Gas Safety Week 18-9-17 to 24-9-17

Gas safety week is a yearly awareness week thats main aim is to provide gas safety advice to the nations 23 million gas users. This is because badly maintained and poorly fitted gas appliances can cause various dangerous issues such as gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Taking place at the start of the heating season, the week is a reminder for consumers to arrange for their gas appliances to be checked by a gas safe engineer and for tenants to check that their landlord has arranged this.

The whole week is coordinated by Gas Safe register. The only official register of gas engineers however it is a collaborative effort between the gas industry, consumer organisations, charities and individuals all looking to help keep the nation safe.

In 2016 nearly 8 million older people were at risk from unsafe gas appliances. Therefore that is one huge reason why Gas Safe week is so important. It helps makes sure the older generation stay safe and get ready for the colder months.

Between 2009 and 2016 Gas Safe register has found that 260 over 65's are injured by unsafe gas appliances. It was also found that 1 in 9 over 75's have little or no knowledge of the danger of carbon monoxide.

Last year's gas safety week had a total reach of over 220 million however this year they are hoping to be even bigger.

We’re supporting Gas Safety Week, taking place 18th – 24th September 2017, are you?  Find out more at www.GasSafetyWeek.co.uk

Grovsenor Apartments

It isn't only big jobs that we do. We recently carried out a replacement of a 2 1/2" flanged pressure reducing valve and gaskets.

We first attended site to investigate an issue with water pressure. We found after our investigation that the issues were down to a faulty pressure reducing valve on the mains cold water.

To change this we needed to isolate the existing valve and stop the water flow to ensure it could be swapped in a quick time frame meaning as little disruption to the apartments as possible.

This work was all completed and tested in the time frame we originally quoted, this meant there was no extra disruption and no extra charges for the customer.

If you want to see how we can help your site call us on 01274 815403 or email info@waterheatingservices.net.

Kingswood Albrighton

Kingswood Albrighton is an outdoor adventure and learning centre, with a range of indoor & outdoor activities and learning spaces. The gas fired water heater we installed serves the majority of the centre's domestic hot water. Therefore it was important that this was installed as quickly and efficiently as possible, to ensure that there was as little disruption as possible whilst still maintaining our usual high quality of installation.

Alongside the installation of the gas fired water heater the existing pipework required modifying to suit the new heaters requirements. Also to fit the new flue we needed to knock a hole into the wall, however we unfortunately found out that we had to knock through 3 course thick of engineering bricks. Once all the pipework was modified and the flue was installed our engineers then cracked on and lagged the necessary pipework to complete the job to the specification we quoted.

All this work was done in the time limit and in the budget which we specified as per our quotation before the works begun. Before we began doing the install we first did a site investigation to narrow down exactly what we required for the install therefore this guaranteed nothing was going to waste and that the customer was left satisfied with the job being done.

If you are wanting your own site investigation carrying out to see how we can help your site and any installs you may require us to carry out please contact us on info@waterheatingservices.net or call us on 01274 815403. We would be happy to organise some one to come look around and measure up.

Heater installed is the Andrews Ecoflo EC380/1220 natural gas.
